My solution ... is a business idea ;) not giving it up, but easy to figure out for 1 part. The best peek hole solution is one that doesn't appear to have been replaced.

The best way for any home dweller or cop to find a criminal is not to make it aware they're being watched: before, during or within a few minutes after their crime.

While that is true, the real goal is to deter criminals from trying to break in in the first place. You’d be surprised at how well even a fake camera works at that.
Its kind of like a door lock, it just keeps the honest people out, if someone really wants in, a lock isn’t stopping them.

Eufy cameras are very good. The motion sensor is hit or miss, but then so is ring. They’re doorbell hasn’t officially supported HomeKit, but the rumors suggest sometime in June which is probably closer than Ring, even though they announced it several years ago. Lol
I just got a response from Eufy stating that there will be an update sometime between June and august that will allow their wired doorbell to connect to the HomeBase. I only mention this because if/when Eufy updates their doorbell for HomeKit, it was hypothesized that it would be the wireless version the communicates with the HomeBase. Well, now they both will. Just thought I’d share.

I’m a huge Apple fan and a huge smart home fan. I can’t understand why not having HomeKit support is such a deal breaker for people. Is it because you want all your items in 1 app? I mean I see appeal over the the convince, but to be a deal breaker on what otherwise are some great products...Mind blowing. 🤯

A couple of reasons:

1) You can integrate events from it with other devices. Turn on light, unlock if the person is recognized as a set of people ( if I understood it correctly, homekit will support this in ios 14/tvos 14), etc
2) you can store the video on iCloud, so you can save the yearly subscription to Ring.

Any alternatives that do support homekit and don't require wiring?

You can use Switch (switch-living.com) to control both: Ring and HomeKit devices. It's a free app. It furthermore works with Arlo and SmartThings. Switch allows not only to control all your devices within one app but also to build automations regardless of the device's technology. It even contains an alarm system.
