Hi all,

I am hoping for a little help here. I would like to make a ringtone for an iphone from the audio of a quicktime movie.

I havenot figured out how to import just the audio into garageband or export it from imovie.

This should be easy-ish, right?

If I have to, I can rerecord the sound. What would be the best method to do that? (I could use either the internal mike on a mbp or a voicerecorder on an old ipod).

Cheers,

I think if you change the extension of an .m4v to .m4r it should show up as a ringtone in iTunes. I may have the .m4v bit wrong but thats what I did with mine. I just changed the file extension to .m4r

If you don't want to mess with conversions, and worrying if you got the format right, just go to http://nakko.com.

You upload your audio file, and they convert it on the fly, for you to download, and it's free! 🙂

Go to Google and type in "extract audio from quicktime movie"

You'll find all you need to know about ripping the audio track.
