So... I just noticed that they are now branding all of the watches as just "Apple Watch" and then specifying the case materials instead.

Looks like aluminum models have also gained the ceramic/sapphire back (no more glass/composite heart rate cover).

Interesting change in marketing... they definitely seem to have abandoned trying to position the Watch as a high-end product.

If you look at the model comparison, it shows the back materials are different
Sapphire crystal (stainless steel and ceramic cases)
    Ion-X glass (aluminum cases)

Nike+ is the new "Sport" model. It makes sense because the original AWS wasn't exactly sport in any meaningful way.

The 38mm and 42mm sizes are still there. For me, the biggest change is they've dropped the Gold Edition watches and the new (ceramic) Edition is about 1/10th the price of the old ones!

They haven't actually dropped it, just re-named it. In fact, the low-end AWS is the best selling model (as is the case with all base model iDevices).

I'm pretty sure that poster is talking about the gold edition not selling enough. I could be wrong though.

I'm not sure I got how the Nike+ version was special? Is it just the bracelet?

Are the so-called inexpensive Apple Watches the same horrible aluminium?

I think it's just that one face, unless you meant the Nike+ complication.
