I have a 2001 1st gen I hold on to

It works in os9 with iTunes if I wanna experience a flashback to simpler days when macOS fit on a 650mb CD

iPod nano (2005)

Replacing the iPod mini, the iPod nano is one of Apple's most interesting iPods because of the many major design iterations that it saw over the years.

Apple started out with a slim, aluminum-colored iPod with a Click Wheel, a color screen, and flash memory that allowed Apple to cut down on the size.
@jclo, this is incorrect. The original iPod nano wasn't aluminum-colored. The first-generation models were available with black or white plastic fronts, and polished chrome backs.

I would totally wear this just for the sake of nostalgia. It almost makes me wonder somehow if the Apple Watch was inspired slightly based off what this once was.

I think Apple has done this before.

iBook was originally the laptop equivalent of the iMac, then they brought the name back as iBooks for its eBook platform and store (later morphed into Apple Books).

IIRC, Apple QuickTake was a line of early digital cameras, brought back as a mode within the iOS camera app.

iSight was a stand alone web cam which later became the brandname Apple used for the cameras on iPhones for a while
I could be wrong though. Those were before my time using Apple products outside an Apple II in school..

I had a pink nano fatty and it was definitely the best of the iPods. Loved that design.
I have the teal-green fatback and it still works like a champ. I'll probably need to do a bit of work on it to add battery life but overall, the Nano Sumo is my hands down favorite iPod

I wish the AirPods case had the tactile direct controls from the iPod shuffle.

The “double clicking my earlobe” look is so dorky. And “hey siri Play the next song” is embarrassing when you’re on the bus.

Just give me buttons please.

The device that changed how we listened to music on the run. I had a Nano fatty with the adapter that I used while running and loved it. But, technology moves forward and now it's evolved to the Apple Watch and AirPods.

The iPhone is a lot of work and some entertainment in one device.

The iPod… the iPod was pure and simple joy. Of course everybody loves it. Who could forget that precious device? Music and music and music and zero worries.

Kind of a non-story, I mean, they discontinued the name, not the product. The iPod morphed into the iPhone so naturally I never once thought "I no longer have an iPod" It's more like "My iPod now goes online, takes photos, installs apps, makes calls"

I think the reason the iPod was so successful was because it was laser-focused. It did one thing and it did it extraordinary well, with a beautiful and clean design. The Apple of old.

Sad but I could not use it nowadays as I did in the past:
My first touch with Apple was due to iPod Touch 3G which I got as a gift from my auntie from Charlotte. I used it anywhere like a smartphone but without cell network. Even I looked for possibilities to make it an iPhone using AliExpress parts but never had money for that haha ?.

Watched YouTube on iOS 6, played games and mostly played music (Still miss this smoothness and album arts scrolled on side). Also was my first steps with jailbreaking and Linux.

I had “stupid” phone probably Nokia 2310 or something working 2-3 weeks on battery.

iPod was a good product and while the demand for it has dwindled there was still people that bought them Unfortunate to see it discontinued
