I think its cool, while I wouldn't do that, I appreciate hobbyists who tinker with computers like that. It reminds me of when computer clubs back in the 80s and people were building their own computers :)

Looks like he just bought an empty Mac Mini housing. There were never any components inside it.

There are much more sensible ways to build a small-profile hackintosh that don't involve hacking aluminum apart, but then again for some people it's just fun to hack machines like this.

Some of us just do things with computers. Others like to do things to computers.

Likewise with motor vehicles.... for some they are just a conveyance, while for others they are an all consuming interest.

    Each to their own

Or you could do what I did, tinkering with computers as an expensive hobby and turning this in to your profession. They pay me now to mess with PC's and Macs. It's great :)

Don't get me wrong I definitely agree, isn't the saying somewhere along the lines of "do what you love".

looks like the guy making that was a student, props to that. Far beyond the wc setups I was hacking into standard towers in college 10 years ago. Clearly a difference in budget though.

Yeah if I wanted extreme performance I could just get a few mini's and build a cluster.

Actually, it would be cool if there was a way to cluster two Minis using thunderbolt, like a master/slave kind of thing-- though that wouldn't be supported by software currently.
