RIP Rik Mayall

Was shocked to hear of his passing, I'll remember him best in Bottom and as Captain Flashheart in Blackadder.
 
A very clever, talented and gifted comedy actor. And 56 is far too young these days for someone to die, as I am sure he had so much more to give.

I have long enjoyed 'Blackadder' - a wonderfully sharply observed and brilliant satire with a sublime cast.

That was my first exposure to him also. I didn't know his name at the time but man that show for some reason was funny to me.

Had to look him up when I saw his name in my twitter feed. Man he did a lot of things I never even knew that was him. Funny guy to say the least.

I was watching the Young Ones episode "Bambi" on my commute in yesterday and then heard about this.

I loved Rik being a foil for the always hilarious Vyvyan (Adrian Edmonson.) The breasts bit of the opening conversation in this particular episode is still LOL funny.

And he was a treat on BlackAdder. Truly a funny fellow.

Rik will be missed.
