I am editing a reel and I am ripping footage off a dvd using 4media dvd ripper. The quality is so bad on every setting I use. I am trying mpeg4, quicktime, ipod, setting video qaulity to 2500 kbps, letterbox, full. Has anyoe else here used this ripping software? If so maybe I am missing a step.
Thanks,
Doug 🙁

I use Handbrake, convert it to an MP4 file and the use QT Pro to convert it to a DV PAL/NTSC .mov, which then can be imported into Avid and FCP.

Settings should be as high as possible. That worked for me at least.

Use MPEG Streamclip to do the conversion into DV NTSC (or PAL if you live in a PAL country). As long as the DVD isn't copy protected MPEG Streamclip is all you need.
