Risk of Upgrade to Higher version

My IPhone was purchased unlocked from UAE and has been working fine, even in India.
I wish to Upgrade to 1.1.2 or 1.1.3. from India. Can i do it?
Does the phone get locked? if yes, how do i get it unlocked?
When I sync with Itunes on my PC, It will ask me for installing the new version 1.1.3. Is it safe to upgrade?

just leave it
1.1.2 and 1.1.3 is rubbish
it will be locked and its hard to unlock
