Hi folks,

I feel there are a bazillion threads on this, but none of them answer the key question.
How the heck do I get 4K/60Hz (via DisplayPort) + charging on the rMB 2017?

I know I can buy this cable to get 4K/60Hz (http://a.co/5E2bvig), but I also want to charge the damn thing or the battery will deplete very rapidly. So can someone just point me to the right dongle that has display port and power delivery via USB-C that will give me 4K/60Hz.

Note: my monitor does NOT support 4K over HDMI.

Thanks all.

IIRC, you can do this with the CalDigit USB-C dock. Previously you needed to run a specific firmware to enable this - you still may.

As with any other dock that is USB 3.1, your USB speeds will be USB 2.0 if you are doing 4k and 60hz, because of bandwidth limitations.

Thanks. But do you know something that I can buy today...

Here you go. I have this and it works well, but it won't carry data (the USB-C port is only for charging):
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B073P82DRM/

But that thing can be mated with a powerful USB-C charger to work even with the 15" rMBP. This is the solution I use at work since the 15" rMBP draws too much power and it would make the display flicker or turn off after a while.

Check on Amazon also for an HDMI version.

Thanks. Ordered, I’ll report back if there are issues.

@vader1990 this allows simultaneous 4K@60Hz + up to 49W charging https://www.hypershop.com/products/...hub-with-mini-displayport?variant=19600733702 . Beware - USB ports are 2.0 (technically impossible to have both 4K@60Hz and USB 3.0). See also https://forums.macrumors.com/thread...and-accessories.1884706/page-42#post-25505492 .

This seems better, but I prefer to buy from Amazon and I wanted it somewhat ‘quickly.’
However, once this is on Amazon I may ‘upgrade’ to this in the future.

Thanks all.
