Hi all,

My Retina Macbook 1.2 Ghz 512 just got delivered. I opened the package, everything appeared as normal. Fired up the Macbook and it had Yosemite installed? Also, only 4% battery left.

I am under the assumption these shipped with El Capitan installed?

No, I have 2, a late 2015 and an early 2015, both of them came with Yosemite, and the early came discharge ( I assume it was too long in the warehouse)

On both it was a pain to update to El Capitan due to App Store being very slow.

Congratulations on you purchase, I love mi rMB

Where did you buy it from, was it old stock, i have had mine about 3 weeks now and it came with El Capitan installed, the manufacturing date on mine was 2nd Nov 2015.

I bought it direct off Apple online store, was just surprising to find it like that. Now I have to fresh install El Captain on to it. I prefer not to upgrade via the app.

Just got home from getting mine from BB. Had El Capitan on it. battery was about 20%

you could check manufacture date (machine and battery) with coconut. There you'll see cycles as well.
Just as an indication maybe.

I've picked up two MBs in the past week both from local Apple Stores. One came with Yosemite (dead battery) and one came with El Cap (40% charge). Both had 0 cycles on the battery. So it seems there's some old stock floating around even in the Apple Stores.

Old stock and new stock are the very same, except for the possibility of an el cap update.

Checked it, the Macbook had a Sept 21 build date, so that explains the SW and about 7 charge cycles.

Its showing battery health at 94% though which doesn't seem right
