rMB m5/8GB/512GB (2016 model) for £999?

As per title, do you think it's a good deal? Brand new from a well known shop. Comes with a 3 year warranty.

Really like its form factor.

My use: internet, video streaming (Netflix), Office, emails, music, photography.

I never travel so this laptop will remain confined to my home, and it will replace a giant and heavy 2010 15" MBP (non retina but upgraded to SSD and 8GB of RAM).

I think it is a great deal and if I didn’t have that model already I would buy it.

I use mine heavily for consumption ( I have an iMac for my day job) which consists of surfing, iTunes, movies via vlc streamed from my nas, small amount of office and email.
Works brilliantly and battery life is amazing!

How much does a new 2017 rMB cost in your area? (and how much is AppleCare? - and are you protected by the stronger consumer protection laws that we sorely lack here in the States, making AppleCare less of a necessity?) (I know the pricing varies a good bit by country, so I'm curious how much the 999 pricing saves over new.)

Also, do you have a preference for the second generation butterfly mechanism on the 2017 over the first gen on the 2016?

The equivalent 512gb 2017 from Apple is £1549 in the UK plus add another £230 for AppleCare making it £1779 (we get properly shafted this side of the pond) making the John Lewis deal very good. I have a 2016 mb and a 2016 MacBook Pro 15” and I am happy using either keyboard. And the performance isn’t that much better for nearly double the price!

Good value. Better than Apple refurbs.

Can't comment on photography, but everything else will be fine. Love my 2015.
