Hello, I just recently got a rMBP 13" and I use it mainly for photoshop and light FCPX work.
I was wondering if my MBP would be compatible with this monitor?

The monitor has a display port input.
I hear of some people using the MBP on ultrawide monitors getting black bars on the sides of the screen, but i hear thats only an issue via HDMI...

If I use a thunderbolt to display port cable can i use my MBP smoothly with no black bars?

Well if those specs are correct then it's only a 1080p, it should run absolutely fine to be honest any Mac made in the last 6 years should run it smoothly.

No idea on the black bars if you set it to the correct resolution it shouldn't be an issue. Use a mini display port to display port cable to be sure on bandwidth and compatability.

Currently, im using a wide screen (LG) 21:9 via HDMI with my mbpr 2015 13 inch, and there are no black bars. The whole screen is filled with the beautiness of El capitan :)
