    Hi,

Does rMBP late 2013 support 5.1 sound via optical out?

Is there any benefits if I use external USB sound card?

Speakers I am planing to connect are Logitech Z906.

Creative has external sound card compatible with MacOS, but I'm not sure if it's worth to connect cheap speakers like Logitech

    Hi

    Thank you for yours info.

Does “176.4 kHz and 192 kHz” mean that it supports 5.1 sound?

Probably stupid question but I am really not audio expert.

No need for an external sound card if the MacBook will pass 5.1 audio over optical.
