Hey guys,

Thought we should start a thread around the bestbuy availability times we find.

I called yestderday, and the lady told me wednesday might be my best bet... apple likes to surprise them.

I called this morning, but the guy said they only have a display model as of now.




Has anyone else heard about wednesday availability
 
Lady I spoke to yesterday at my local Best Buy said they were anticipating some on their truck that comes today, stock should be available Wednesday.
 
Best buy people didn't know when they would get their first shipment but they actually let me preorder it so the first one they get in is mine. :D
But that could be a long time. :(
 
GET PLACED ON THEIR RESERVE LIST!

They will call you when they come in and hold one for you!!!
 
whoa... your guyses bestbuy has a waitlist? I havent heard of one at mine... should I request it or something?
 
my store in tallahassee, FL told me that someone had pre-ordered the only 512GB model that they had last week.. so I'm assuming that they do keep some sort of list.. whether they are supposed to or not.
 
I am first in line for the 8/256 model at my best buy. I asked the best buy employees if they had a wait-list and they said nope, but the apple rep was right behind me and interrupted and took the whole group over to the kiosk and showed them how the wait-list worked... so I got on first. Wish I could order the 16/256 from them, but thats considered a special order for some reason.. I will only keep it a year or so, so its plenty for that time frame and my usage pattern. can't wait!!!

I just called me local store again and the lady said the system for pre-ordering is currently done for them and that they were taking Reservations but can't right now. She had no idea when it would be back up. Not sure if this is on a store basis or not.
 
If you're a Reward Zone Premier Silver member, it might be worth calling the personal shopper line and seeing what they can do for you regarding getting a reserved MBPr in store.

it emailed me right after saying it was ready for pickup but they told me it was just because thats how it worked and would call when avail (and I got mine last friday)
 
Just go into any Best Buy that carries the rMBP and you can preorder. I decided not to cuz I didn't think it was any different in delivery time than ordering online from the Apple Store yourself.

Anyways, just drove out 30 minutes to my local Apple store at Walden Galleria in Buffalo around 1pm and had the absolute WORST experience ever. (Someone from their store told me on Sat. that they were expecting a shipment today around 1pm.) While waiting quite awhile for a specialist, I noticed that someone had decided not to purchase their rMBP and his specialist took back the rMBP so I interrupted him and immediately and asked "May i purchase that one?" For whatever reason, the specialist hesitates, and tells me as I watched the BS unfold, "No, this one is on reserve, but I'll check if we have anymore in the back." As I expected, he goes to the back for less than 5 seconds, and then comes out saying "they're all out, and we don't know when we'll be receiving anymore." Then he does his ********* demonstration of how you can order it online. (No shi* buddy, I'm here so I don't have to wait 3-4 weeks). While he tells me this, I overhear another person purchasing his rMBP and his specialist tells him, "you're very lucky, we just got 2 in this morning and you got the last one." Clearly, I saw the two boxes of the rMBP, the one from the person who decided not to purchase it, and the other "lucky guy." I don't understand why they wouldn't let me purchase the one that the first person refused to buy cuz clearly there's no "reservations" on these new rMBPs.

In-Store. They ask for your email ID and send you an email confirmation.

If you are a RZ member, it's even easier.
 
My Best Buy experience last Friday, was kind of a mess. The first one I went to had just sold out, they searched and told me several locations that had them, then he said he could have me pay for it and pick it up the next morning at store #2. So he calls store #2, gets put on hold, then finally they agree to hold it and he starts putting it in the system, we get to the part where I have to swipe my card and then goes oh wait it's not working.

So then he calls store #2 and asks if they will hold it till tomorrow morning, they said they would but if someone comes in to buy it they will sell it(so thats not really holding it).

In the end he gives me several other stores with inventory and tells me to go there, I didnt think to call ahead because it sounded like there were no holds, I drive 25 minutes south to store #3 where they have 2 in stock. When I get there I'm told they are both on hold, then I ask for a manger, when he gets there and I tell my story he goes into panic mode and tries to do the pay for it and pick it up at another store thing again, same error. Keep in mind they have two units there and someone who definitely wants to buy one, a rep even comes up at one point and says I told the guy we'd hold it for an hour more than a hour ago. So they go into a conference away from me, and then come back and say we will call store #4 and have them hold it, store #4 is now another 15 minutes south, this is all taking place Friday during rush hour.

I get to store #4 and they have it on hold for me...so I walked away with my 8/256 RMBP, but if I had known I could have had a store hold it for me I would have taken a more direct route to store #4.

Needless to say I am very happy with my purchase and thankful that I was able to get it even though it took half my evening.
 
This is still ridiculous. I called the best buy online. and told them what how some people were able to get pre-orders and this not even the corporate number has the power to do this. They put me on hold and told me they even tried to do some back door technique but they keep getting denied.

This is unreal.
