So I am thinking of switching from my 2012 Air to a new rMPB 13 but cannot give up the 1440 res so would be running the rMBP in 1440 scaled always. I have tried them out in the Apple store a few time and to my eyes the scaled resolutions, while offering the resolution you want, seem rather blurry. I know there is a slight performance hit running scaled resolutions, but I was surprised that the visual performance took as big a hit as it does. Is it just me or is this what others notice?

rMBP blurry in scaled res?

I had the same issue with the retina screen when it was released. Anything other than the 1440x900 res looked blurry. I bought the 2013 model and when I cranked up the res to 1920 I saw the blurry come back. About a day or so after I didn't notice any blurriness. My eyes have gotten used to the res and I don't run at any lower res. I just love this display and could never go back to anything else.
Interesting. I'm about to bite the bullet on a 15" rMBP, my intention being to run it at 1920x1200. I've a 2011 mba and, alongside the higher res, I really want more screen real estate.
