thanks for the info about Dropbox!
In my case, atm I am only using 2,5 Gb in Dropbox, and really do not need anymore storage there. And this is my storage for the last 2 years, so I am not really a big Dropbox user.
Guess I am uploading about 8 photo's per month to my Dropbox.

thanks a lot for all of your opinions in my RAM choice.

I think I will stick with the 4Gb RAM, 128Gb SSD model, since I will be using Dropbox and an external HD for extra storage. I have very little photo's stored. I am not that really a type who saves a lot of photo's. My movies (also little) are stored on an external HD connected to my Aiport Extreme.
I have no intensions at all to run any heavy apps in the future.

With this I will ''save'' about $200 at the moment by not choosing the 8Gb RAM, 256Gb SSD model.

Further, I will take my lost on the resale value in 2 years when selling this machine and get a new model afterwards.

I have read some other forums where people are using the 4Gb RAM model with similar (light) workloads as mine.

Again, thanks all for your time and advices

I would suggest the 4GB/128GB SSD. The SSD is fast enough to do memory swaps if needed and if you ever need additional storage just use an external USB drive. Buy what you need today and in the future if your needs change then sell it and upgrade. You're a light user so even a base MBA would work for you.

that's a no go for me....I really want that Retina display ;)

anyway, thanks for your point of view

I'm not usually one for the "next best thing", but the Airs are supposed to be getting retina displays sometime later this year. How urgent is your purchase?

My current 2009 MacBook really needs to be replaced...haha
It's quit urgent in this case ;)

Those are my thoughts as well atm. Get the base model 8gb/128Gb, use and enjoy it. I will be a light user, now and I am sure for the next 2 year.

Do I really need a new machine, sell it (take my loss in the resell value) and buy a new one

thanks
