Exactly. The air is thinner, has thinner aluminum, has less protection for the display.. so on.

my rmbp fell from the couch to the carpeted floor below (~18") and now I have a shattered screen. I could not believe how little it took for that to happen. My 2006 mbp had made the same drop dozens of times with zero damage.

Well done, genius. If you drop a pane of glass what do you expect to happen to it?
And you dropped your 2006 MBP "Dozens of times", please, see a doctor.

I did the same fell from from sofa to a rug on hardwood below..... All I can say is Mission Repair really saved the day for me. $499 vs $1200 at Apple Store and Peachmac here in Georgia.

Got it back in week would have been sooner if not for the midwest snow storm last week and them having to order the part.
