rmbp late 2013 - weird lag

So, everything was going fine for bit now. I also did a file vault on the laptop to secure it. not sure if it was the few updates to mavericks, i notice when i reboot the system and i get to login screen, i enter password and when i go in, the animation of the desktop coming up shows up laggy as if its struggling to come up. Then I try maps in google and street view seems laggy too. so not sure whats happening.
i did disk repair etc. and permissions so wasn't sure.

I had almost the same problem. I installed xcode and a sepcific plugin with it.
After that everything lagged and the icons where distorted. Booting into safe mode didnt work, pram reset and diskpermissions didn't work. A complete OS reinstall did the job. 😉
