rMBP + Thunderbolt display question

Hi guys, for this who have rMBP and TB display connected,
Please let me know if when display is connected and Macbook is closed, the TB display is only display, is there a boost in performance, so there is no resolution scaling needed?

Should behave exactly like a non-retina MBP in that situation (with the same specs).
