I recently purchased a 15in rMBP, which has a resolution of 2880x1800. I installed Windows 8 via bootcamp and used the 19**X1*** (can't remember exactly) and used the 150% DPI scaling. While this is great, there are still some apps that don't support DPI scaling.

Is there a way to set my resolution to 1440x900 (exactly 50% of the native resolution) within Windows 8.1? I noticed the closest option available is 1366x768. Why isn't 1440x900 an option?

    Thanks!

Just to clarify: are you using Windows 8 or Windows 8.1. There's quite a difference between those two regarding decent HiDPI support.

I have Windows 8.1 installed on my rMBP, and it works fine in HiDPI at 2880x1800. For applications that do not support HiDPI properly (though I haven't had problems with that yet), you can set their behaviour in the program's compatibility settings: right-click on the app's icon, select "Properties", go to the "Compatibility" tab and check or uncheck the "Disable display scaling on high DPI settings" box, depending on the app and/or your preferences.
