Nope, you need to read the Dev`s site in detail, if the dGPU is called for by an application it will switch irrespective of gfxCardStatus installed or not. the Dev previously attempted to stop the switching, it resulted in havoc with a lot of applications, subsequently he removed the functionality from gfxCardStatus...

Hm, that's different.

I use to use it on my cMBP and distinctly remember being able to prevent the dGPU from switching over. Maybe it was an older version of the app I suppose.

2.21 yes, 2.3 no, dev removed the functionality as it was more trouble than it was worth, that was for 10.8.

Smart move on the IrisPro, the MBP with dGPU is a disaster. No small wonder Apple are covering their bet`s with the extended dGPU warranty, pity that they only replace failed Logic Boards with refurbished ones that will likely fail in a matter of a few months...

Get the one with the dedicated GPU. You get the best of both worlds. No contest.

Dedicated as in Discrete, does result in two worlds; the lucky and those in the queue for refurbished Logic Boards, good luck with that one...

There have been 0 issues with the late 2013 rMBP with the GT 750m. To not buy the model with the dedicated GPU because it may malfunction is absolutely ridiculous.

That`s the point know one knows right now. Well maybe Apple has a suspicion or two. Ridiculous it may be, equally Apple`s track record with portables and dGPU`s is shockingly bad. The Retina`s improved cooling will just slow the process down, hence the inclusion...

Given enough numbers the Late 2013 will be on the dGPU extended repair program same as the other six MBP models released since 2011..

And so it starts....MacBook Pro Retina Late 2013 Pink Bars and Distorted

Why do you say so?

iGPU can handle a majority of the needs of the general consumer and they will still be able to sell these laptops for the same price generating higher profits.

dGPU might have been useful if Apple still catered MBP to the professional market but the market's a slump, they are a tiny percentage of folk and Apple's making fortunes selling to the general consumer so why would they bother?

...What aren't issues?

Heat: Without load the 750M is cool enough never to pose a problem, with load the dGPU is often even cooler because the heat is spread over two chips. ...

What does the 'two chips' mean?

Isn't the 750M a single discrete GPU?

Having seen Apple's previous track record with dGPUs (2008 NVIDIAgate, 2010 NVIDIAgate, 2011 Radeongate and 2012 NVIDIAgate), Apple may be ditching it altogether.

Besides, Intel is really upping their game with iGPUs.

I disagree completely.

What about the years without a 'gate'? 2009, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2007?

The 14" MBP with a potential increase in screen resolution (4K?) will need a discrete graphics card to power that, and in addition to being able to play games, perform as a video editing/3D rendering device (worthy of the 'Pro' moniker).
