I´d generally say everything looks and feels better. Here´s a small proof. Mountain Lion icon to the left, Lion to the right:

Interesting. Have you downloaded the iWork ML/rMBP update? That might account for the different Pages icon.

Hmm, Apple is using Chromotherapy to relieve ML post-release depression for those who were expecting miracles... 😀
