I need the strength to wait til Merom. It doesn't really make much sense for it to not be released at the same time as Conroe does it?

Conroe is a desktop part while merom is for notebooks...

Another good site is Mike's Hardware. Click on the "Roadmap" link on the left and choose a time period (e.g. "Q3 2006") to read about all the exciting stuff that's up and coming. Oh, and you can read about Windows Vista too.
