Can you restore a iphone when imei blocked? Or what error do they get or what?

The best case scenario is that the IMEI may be blocked from being used on a particular cell phone network. They can still use the phone otherwise.

Hopefully, you start using Find My iPhone and keep regular backups from now on. Sorry for your loss.

IMEI is blocked, but since i now know passcode etc is no use to camera roll, i'd nearly unblock the imei so they try restore it.
thats why im hoping they are able restore it even if imei was blocke,d that was my questions.

Blocking the IMEI has nothing to do with restoring the phone.

They can restore it they just can't use it as a phone. So likely it will get sold for parts.
