Robus tripod maintenance

I just recently bought a used Robus carbon fiber tripod that I want to clean up as much as I can. I got as far as removing the legs and I can't figure out how to remove the shim from the leg so I can clean the threads from the leg locks. AFAIK they're the same as Leofoto shims like the photo attached. Anyone know how to remove them without breaking them?
I sent an email inquiry to Robus but I haven't heard back from them yet.

I found a youtube video online that I obviously missed during my initial search on how to remove the shim. It looks a lot easier in the video than when I first tried it before searching online.

Thanks for trying, Kenoh. I received a reply from Robus and they basically said that they do not recommend removing the shim for cleaning/maintenance due to the many who tried to and ended up breaking them in the process.

Oh OK, that isn’t very helpful of them is it? Have you managed to get it back to match fitness yet?

Match fitness?
After reading the email from Robus, I haven't thoroughly cleaned the tripod yet. I have a couple week trip coming up so I don't want to break any parts before then. The parts would have to be shipped out to me which might take a while. Robus did send a follow up email saying that the model I have, RC-5570, haven't had any issues yet with anyone breaking any parts so that makes me feel a bit better in cleaning the tripod later.
