I love macbook pro but I also enjoy my share of pc gaming. I currently have a 2009 that is having a rough time playing pc games in bootcamp. I have 2.93 duo core 320HD 4 gig ram with the 9400m.

Im toying of getting a 17 2011 with 512 SSD max 8 gig ram. Im not up to snuff on video cards. Is the one they offer a decent one to run the games coming out today or better off just keeping 2009 and getting a pc. I am really not a fan of windows and use it only when play games.

Im all apple right now, MBP, iphone 4, ipad so can see im in deep heh. Thanks for any help.

I'm not entirely up to snuff on the video cards and gaming, but I do know if you buy the upgraded 15" (the 2.2ghz) you get the graphics card as the one in the 17" which could save you some money.

it is about as fast as the GTX 260m from a couple gens ago. for reference, it can run crysis on high smoothly on 1440x900. it is VERY fast. much faster than the 9600m gt in your current macbook.

Money not a real issue. Have a good tax return coming. I like watching movies and such on it and I like the 17. Just going over options is all.

If you're looking to upgrade for gaming, you're at a good time to do it. On paper the 6750m GPU should only be 50% faster than the 330m from last year, but so far it's looking like 100% better in practice. It will definitely squash the 9400m. I'd say go for it, especially if you're looking to burn enough refund to add a 512GB SSD.
