Interestingly: I just got off the phone with Rogers. I started by asking for 'cancel my contract' and got a regular representative.
I asked to speak to 'customer retention' and she asked what it was about. I told them that I was looking for a better plan or would move my account to Bell.
We went through all the previous plans I had heard about. I quoted her a couple of the ones noted in this thread and she said she couldn't see how they were possible.
At that was it.

No luck.

What strategy are you guys using?

Hold on.

In Canada, they offer plans that include 100 minutes?
And caller ID is a feature?

What the hell...

Yea it's not a good route to take, unless you are near the end of your contract and rogers has added stuff to their plans that when you signed wasn't included (alot of the time they will add these for free if you sign a new contract). Or another one of the companies has a plan that includes extra's for a lesser price for a similar product. With the iPhone Rogers has complete control in Canada, so negotiating better contracts may not be very simple. Termination fee's with Rogers are insane if you have any amount of time left on your contract, so they are going to get a large chunk of money if you cancel before your contract is up which makes them less likely to negotiate.

Yes voicemail and caller ID is not included. Also many companies charge what is called a "System Access Fee" at one time this was a government fee. Essentially a cell phone tax. The government no longer charges it, instead the companies just pocket it. As well we have a "911" fee. A few companies have gotten rid of this but most have not. We only really have 3 cell phone carriers....It sucks. And if you don't have a texting plan they even charge for incoming texts.
