Feral has pushed out an update to ROME: Total War that brings some welcome enhancements to the acclaimed strategy game on iOS.

First up, v1.10 adds eight more playable factions to the war theater, significantly increasing the strategy options available in the game.

Using the new Unlock All Factions option in the settings screen, players are now free to choose from up to 19 factions, including the Greek Cities, Egypt, the Seleucid Empire, Carthage, Gaul, Germania, Britannia, and Parthia.

This update also introduces a new range marker feature, which indicates the firing distance of selected missile units, as the picture above shows.

In addition, units in a group can now be commanded to adopt ta uniform pace when traveling towards their target location.

With the App Store update applied, ROME: Total War also gains support for both landscape orientations on the iPhone X, XS, XS Max, and XR.

Lastly, third-generation 11-inch iPad Pro owners should see an improvement in graphics speed and an optimized game interface.

ROME: Total War is available from the App Store for $9.99 as a universal app for iPhone and iPad.

I love Rome Total War. The best of the series IMO. I was skeptical about how the port would work in iOS. I am thoroughly impressed. Its a must buy. To my surprise it syncs with the mac version. So all my saves from my computer campaign were there. I'm chuffed. Haven't been this exited about an iOS game for years.

I think this is pure nostalgia. Rome: TW was an important and seminal title of the series 15 years ago, but it hasn't aged really well. The game has been surpassed by later titles in the series in every aspect. Medieval 2, the Warhammer games, and especially Shogun 2 are much better.

I like the Total War games, but nothing beats Myth and Myth II. Wish it would come to iOS! Or a new game in the series!

There have been a couple attempts to restart the RTS genre a la Myth. Deadhold didn't make it to profitability but it did have some cool single and MP gameplay. Another self-starter is trying to capture some of the olde time religion with a game called Norse Warriors.

Anyone know of a Myth-alike since... well Myth?

Nothing new, but did you know that there is an updated version of Myth II playable under modern versions of macOS?
