    Hey,

I'm the developer of Room Escape in the app store. I am looking for feedback to make our next escape better. I have already changed the controls to make navigating easier. I'm open to any and all suggestions. :)

i have an iphone 3g with 3.0 and sometimes it can take as much as 10 seconds to be able to select items in the inventory. It can also take 5-10 seconds and many many swipes to switch views. Also, I found a hammer and a note and then couldn't find anything else to do so I've kinda given up

It just does not make sense to me, I can open some cabinet, and everytime I hit the Laptop or painting it asks for a code, it tells me something is under the couch, but how to you get under there and find what is under it?

I have no problem walking thru this whole game for you and giving you my opinion for what it is worth, just that the Help is not helpful and you sit in a room with 4 walls with passcodes need but you can't open anything?

That's kind of the purpose of this genre of game. There its all about figuring out how to get out. You have to read the note, and pay attention to it. It hint to the password for the computer. Which helps with the next step, which will let you into the next step. Which then gives you another step, etc. To get under the sofa, swipe down, that was mentioned in the help.

I deleted it from my touch for one main reason; the interface.

The controls for doing basic navigation of the room don't make sense. There's no explanation, I'm not even sure if what I've tried is the right way. Either way, half the time it doesn't work even after many attempts to do the same thing.

Also, how to use items is never explained. How do I use the hammer on something?

Where do I tap to do what action in a given view?

I like the slight humor already there, more would be great. The game was entertaining me, but the controls were just way too frustrating.

The graphics have an appeal but should really be done better. Give the game a better look so it doesn't look like a cheap game. Presentation is everything when selling something.

    Good luck, Nate

    Hey Nate,

Just wondering if you read the help section? Many of the things that you said that you didn't understand are explained in the help section. As I said in my initial post, I have reworked the controls to make them more user friendly (swipes are going away.) Thanks for your impressions.

    2 things:

    1. Figuring out the 3-digit code should've been more than just guessing.

    2. Once you figured that code out, it was over way too quick.

Aside from that, I really enjoyed it. The controls were quirky, but once you figure it out, it's not so bad. I can't wait to see more rooms that take longer to get out of.

The proper way to get the 3 digit code is by going through the computer. :D

Longer rooms are definitely one of the big things I'm going to change.

I'm not sure what you did find, but I believe there are 13 total things to do (including picking up objects.)

I don't recall seeing a help section... but that should be irrelevant. The best interfaces don't require help. Just look at nearly everything Apple does.

If possible I think you should make the environment more 'tangible'. Make it at least a fake 3D navigable room with zooming to manually find things, instead of tapping on potential hiding spots. And instead of tapping or swiping to navigate, how about dragging to rotate/look up and down, and maybe accelerometer/a couple buttons to move forward/backwards.

And taking another step, you could turn this into a game instead of a short entertainment app. A puzzle-based RPG with a complete world and characters. I could see this becoming a great game.

Good luck and I can't wait for the update! Nate

Hey Nate, I probably won't be changing the way the game operates that drastically. I want to keep true to the genre, which is heavily point and click. For more examples of this genre check out escapegames.com

Maybe you could branch off with a new game then and still keep room escape? It's just that as a developer myself I hate to see a potentially great idea... escape.

I play a lot of these types of games, but this is a challenge. I can't get past room #1. I assume somthing is under the table, but how do you get under it? I've tried everything.
