The real trick is getting the mobo aligned and mounted properly, and it seems like you did a good job of that, at least.
The way I did that was to take the G3's video card and stick in a PCI slot before mounting the motherboard, and before drilling the new standoffs. I positioned the motherboard by lining up the PCI card with the case, and then marked where the motherboard's holes were.

If you read the notes PDF I linked to, you'll see that the AGP slot isn't useable however. There was no way around this, unless I would use a riser card.

These guys put their macs inside a beige PC box! And on that first one, his original mac case is a beautiful black too! :p I wish I would have found this earlier; that way I could have used the original mac's front panels for the buttons.

Also:
you folks are going to flip out once you see what I'm doing with the original motherboard...

Water feature? Stylish earrings? Picture frame perhaps?

Maybe you could put it inside a BBC Master series case, it'd be big enough. just. Perhaps. Actually, I've been meaning to rip the guts out of mine and slap in a C3. Mmm, tangent...

That was close. I'm going to cover the back of the board with Liquid Light, print a photo on it, develop it, frame it, then give it to my mother as a Christmas present.

Sort of like this:

I'm also using this same technique on the 2nd case that I mentioned.

I'm not sure where I'd find one of those, but I do have an old Commodoore 64 laying around. It would be fun if I could get the "64" to refer to a 64-bit processor. (instead of 64k of memory :p ) It would definitely be possible if I use a mini-ITX board with Toshiba's new 64-bit chip. Then I could add a 128mb ram stick and a 512mb one and have 640mb of RAM. yeah! I could call it the Commodoore 640000.

err... wait. were you being sarcastic? :)

Sounds interesting, do post a photo of the completed article. I still prefer the idea of a fully passive, silent G3 machine inside an archaeic case though.

Heheh... no, I genuinely keep meaning to make my old 'beeb useful again. Not had the spare cash to buy an ITX board yet.

A C64 might be a bit of a tight fit, especially if you want to hack the keyboard so it still works... would be cool though. I did see someone slap a board in, IIRC, an Acorn Electron - but the keyboard was purely for show.
