ChatGPT helped me create what a round Apple Watch Ultra would look like.
I would buy this! Anyone else?

My gosh it looks so real-
IMO no. The squared design was what made Apple Watch so unique. If they made a rounded Apple Watch it won't become as special as before.

I'd have no interest whatsoever in a round Apple Watch. I don't think the round shape works as well for a smartwatch.

I agree, for a smartwatch the apple square shape works best imo.

Still like the look of the mock ups! If it was the only shape apple made I'd still buy it.

Shape is not important for me, though I think it looks good.
What’s more important for me is the number of buttons. I’m a runner and live in Denmark 🇩🇰 where it’s gets cold during the winter, and the ⌚️is difficult to use with gloves on, and believe me, I have tried.

Quote from a fast runner (2.06.00 marathon time), and that’s the way I feel as well🫣:

Despite that, I still find myself returning to the same watch more often than not: an Apple Watch Series 11. I find that many runners tend to hate this take. Part of that use (for me) is because I genuinely like smartwatches. Cellular connectivity is useful, especially with little ones at home. Notifications when I’m doing something else are useful (and more easily handled than those received on non-Apple devices, I find). The Apple Watch remains the best smartwatch ever made, in my opinion.

The problem is that every time I get serious about training (let’s call it June or July, every year preceding a fall marathon), I end up reaching for something else. Buttons matter. Battery life matters. Workout execution matters. If you’ve ever tried splitting mile repeats by double-tapping a sweaty touchscreen, you know exactly what I mean - the Apple Watch is a great smart watch, an okay running watch, and a terrible runner’s watch. Enter the Garmin Forerunner 170 Music.

Have you tried the Ultra? It has one action button extra, and is better suited for use with gloves. It might make a difference for your use case.

Like others said, the rectangular shape is what defines the AW and sets it apart from competitors. I have no interest in a round AW that looks like this. On the other hand, if AW would make something resembling the Tag Heuer Connected, I would be interested.

Many will be interested. I won’t be - plenty of round smart watches out there, and I like the square shape for maps, photos, texts and such. More options are fine, but at least keep the traditional shapes
