Thank ceiling cat for CNBC. I saw a report that there was more coverage of the wedding in the US than GB. Sad.

I believe it. I don't think Brits give a damn about it. It's costing taxpayers $20 million, and I bet the crowds and traffic in London are pretty bad right now and interrupting their daily lives.

Certainly in my part of London (Brixton) the shenanigans going on in the centre are a total non event, market is open and as crazy as normal.Went to a anti-wedding party last night which was great, another "punk vs nashville wedding night showdown" tonight. The good citizens of Stokes Croft and St Pauls in Bristol spent last night fighting the police and trashing McDonalds and Tesco's.Link to live coverage (comes and goes) here:

P.S. Activists in many parts of the country were lifted last night and remain in jail today.Totally illegal and bound for the European court of human rights, where undoubtably the police will have to pay out large amounts of compensation which will be added to the amount taxpayers have to pay for the goings on of the dysfunctional family of royals.

A large chunk of the coverage that I've seen has been fashion related, much like the Oscars. Strip down the puffery, and you'd have a nice, five minute news piece. It's the by-product of a celebrity and image-obsessed culture, where it's about who you are and what you wear.

It's probably generated 10 times that in tourist revenue. From what I heard, hotels were booked solid this week. That's the power of the monarchy in the 21st century.

Wasn't Hull the only city in England where nobody applied to have a street party? Obviously somebody cracked. Shame on you!
No street party applications, but this seems to be a garden-based bash.

We were told we should feel ashamed and embarrassed by our lack of street parties, but clearly we have better things to do today than be good little peasants. I, for example, did a spot of hoovering earlier.

They'd better settle down before next Friday, I'm meant to be going to gig in Stokes Croft.

I've had a pleasant day painting the kitchen and tidying the livingroom.

So I just caught a glimpse of the highlights from the royal train wreck, what is with the stupid oversized looking hats?

I heard it's been relatively quite on the hotel front and the camping (glamping) on Clapham common is a financial disaster.

Hmm.. Well, Rubicon reported a fortnight ago that bookings were more than double last year, which was considered busy then, and revenue per room is more than tripled. Next year will be a complete nightmare with the Olympics, but I doubt even tourist money can make up for that. At least you'll have some nice infrastructure afterwards like the "Eiffel" tower thingy. Kleenex must be making a pretty penny on tissue today.

There is a lot of ********e going on here, prices have skyrocketed and predications of high occupancy are common but actual occupancy has not been reported and if what people are telling me is true the rate is below that of normal for this time of year. It's as well to remember occupancy rates in central London are high anytime it's the outlying areas where the punters stay that tell whether an event is successful or not.

Even the Duchess of Cornwall's hat was a little big, and Princess Beatrice's was so unusual that I am surprised nobody suggested she should wear something else.

Now that I think of it, the normally very nicely done up Victoria Beckham's hat was a little strange, too.

Wow. Not sure I understand the hate speech. I think that it was, overall, a resounding success, and I don't understand why anybody would hate on it in any way.

Though I have to admit some of the hats were a bit odd. :)

Even sadder, news divisions cry poverty in covering international news yet send a dozen reporters with associated support staff for a ****ing wedding.

The real tragedy is that our news is so bad that I've taken to watching the Beeb. For the past week or so it's been nothing more than a 24-hour wedding feed.

I believe the Ministry of Silly Hats had a hand in this.

I honestly couldn't care for this.. I mean the wedding, not the sick bags :p..

It'll be fine,I was up there last Saturday night and aside from the police acting like total tools everybody was in festive mood.It may kick off later tonight though, riot police from five forces are acting like the gestapo in the area.(second pic street party in Brixton no sign of royalty bollocks)

Today I've been mainly nursing a hangover and watching a Swedish crime series on T.V.,later I'm off to a anti-wedding party.
