Erm, I think they are .rss files... for example,

feed://slashdot.org/index.rss
 
That makes a ton of sense, now that I think about that. I need to find or make a wdgt that will interpret .php files. Any ideas?

RSS feeds ARE just XML files, the file that you posted is an XML file even though it has a .php extension
