...yep - I am indeed using Feedly to sync.

Hmmm... odd. I'm not kidding. I bet I sync ten times a day and never ever once have I seen that error. Do you get errors with other RSS apps synced to Feedly? I wonder if something is borked with your Feedly account?

Been using Reeder for a long time, Reeder 2 has just been updated it for the IP6 and IP6+

Not to fond of this dev, Reeder and Reeder 2 is just an update they made everyone pay for and their update track isn't so great.

Unfortunately it is the best RSS Reeder in the AppStore

I don't think it's unreasonable to pony up a few dollars every year or so for updates. Developers need to eat too and they can't feasibly be updating their apps religiously for free.

I know right? It's just crazy.. That $4.99 Reeder 2 upgrade is really a killer for an app you've been using for several years on a daily basis. The gall of these developers - who do they think they are, expecting to get paid for their work and all. As if updating and developing their apps for years and years isn't a reward enough??

Reeder for iOS and OS X, I tried Newsify, Feedly and Unread on my iPhone and, honestly, none is like Reeder. For OS X, I've tried Feedly, Leaf, and ReadKit and , honestly, none is like Reeder.

Fiery Feeds is now the iPhone "almost equal" of Mr Reader. Check it out.

This does look pretty good, actually. I'm going to try it for a bit.

I've been pretty happy with Newsify for a long time. I've tried Reeder, but it insists on wasting screen space with a large toolbar above web content that can't be turned off, and this always drives me away.

the developer of Reeder offers no support and is so far behind on his automation & share services that he probably needs to just give up as the world has passed him by. it is 2015 and reeder cannot share to omnifocus unless you tie up the *ONE* e-mail share option. Give me a break. Once Ole Zorn (Pythonista, Editorial) quit developing Newsrack (the most advanced rss reader at the time with automation, shares), Reeder kind of just backed into "the best rss reader".. but it was only because there was nothing else. the app Unread came close but was kludgy. Fiery Feeds however, easily replaces Reeder as THE rss app for iPhone. The problem is nobody knows about it and they are accustomed to accepting the mediocrity that is Reeder.

Reeder's developer is probably waiting until he can code enough of an update at one time so that he can charge for it again. He gets no more $$ from me.

Fiery Feeds on iPhone.
Mr. Reader on iPad.

That seems thoroughly unfair. For one thing, Reeder supports the iOS 8 share sheet, which should really render the other options obsolete in the long run. You can just use the share sheet and share to any email address you want.

Also, what world do you live in where you feel that a one-time $5 purchase entitles you to a lifetime of development and support from any developer? It takes constant work on the developer's part, not only adding new features but keeping up to date on new iOS versions and, changes to APIs, bug fixes, etc. Your old version of Reeder isn't disabled when a new version comes out, but at some point you have to pay if you want the developer to have the ability to continue to support their software. This is just reality of anyone who wants to make a living developing software for mobile devices. Desktop applications have been charging for significant upgrades since forever. Apple doesn't allow for upgrade pricing, but the average price of an iOS app is so tiny compared your average Mac or Windows app that it's not at all unreasonable to just pay "full price" every once in a while. It's about the cost of a medium latte at Starbucks…

I should have qualified my comments as "pre iOS 8". I switched to Unread & Fiery Feeds before iOS 8 came out as it already had the massive amount of shares I needed and I was tired of waiting for Reeder to do some basic stuff. Think about it, reeder users had to wait until iOS 8 to send an article to omnifocus or drafts. and even now, it's more an iOS feature than anything Reeder's developer did.

I'm not against paying for a total re-do of an app, but I think I paid for reeder again when he removed google and did a little cosmetic work or something like that. it was very minor update (or maybe it was the mac version). I was already getting tired of his act when he refused to address inability of printing to pdf of Reeder for the Mac. He never addressed it, nor answered any e-mail, tweet, etc asking for a fix of something very basic. If you ever used Newsrack for the Mac, you would see Reeder for the piece of crap it is. That being said, I still use Reeder 2 on the mac because there really isn't anything else. The share services are pathetic so I usually just open the article in safari, and share from there.

If you start using fiery feeds for iPhone, it will once again show how lame reeder is in comparison to fiery feeds or mr reader. Please don't think Im against paying developers for what they earn as I am not but the reeder developer just cuts corners and makes a pretty interface.

to put it even more simply, until Reeder 2 can do something like this, it will always be a second rate rss reader:

drafts4://x-callback-url/create?text={title}%0A%0A{url}%0A%0A{content}&x-success={callback}&x-source={source}

one of my shares from fiery feeds.

So you had to wait until IOS8 to send an article to Omnifocus? Ohh.. The Horror! I can't even imagine what it was like for you :roll eyes:

You sense of self entitlement is staggering. For $5 bucks - Reeder is an amazingly polished and intuitive app. As a pure newsreader - it beats the competition by a mile. I have tried them all, and wouldn't use anything else.

The Reeder developer doesn't OWE you a thing - you knew what the supported features were you purchased it. The developer is under no obligation to add support for every obscure feature or service you ask for. The majority of Reeder users don't even know what "Omnifocus" is, let alone care that that app doesn't offer native Omnifocus sharing.

while your anger amuses me, I can't really take it seriously from such an uninformed source. Reeder is a pretty but weak app. If you had really tried them all you would know this. stop embarassing yourself.

You forgot to add "in my opinion". Which incidentally is not shared by vast majority of the RSS app users. Current version of Reeder 2 has near 100% 5-star ratings in the App Store, so they seem to be doing something right. But feel free to believe whatever you want to believe.

I have tried a variety of RSS apps, but always came back to Reeder in the end.

I moved to Unread for a while (under the recommendation of Macstories). I found the interface very sluggish and unintuitive, and never came to appreciate the "designed for a relaxed and uninterrupted reading experience" claim touted by the developer.

Back then, Mr Reader wasn't even an iPhone app, and it too felt pretty sluggish on my iPad. That it supports URL schemes is meaningless to me because I don't use them.

I do wish the developer of Reeder would update it with some of the new ios8 APIs (handoff being one of my more requested ones), but in the end, I find that Reeder offers the best user experience for me. It's fast, fluid, doesn't feel bloated or laggy, and lets me quickly churn through a ton of articles as I walk to and from work everyday. Just admit that different people look out for different features in an app.
