hey guys, I just had an unfortunate accident with my macbookpro where a text book fell on it while it was open and tore a part of the rubber on the screen hinge (long story), just below the 'MacBook Pro' letters. fortunately nothing else was damaged, but I read that this rubber part is part of the antenna for wireless. would this change anything like reception or whatnot? the tear is less than a cm wide and it is also uneasy on the eyes and was also wondering whats the best solution to fix it. i took a picture with my cell phone which is here -> [IMG]
    thanks guys

That's a pretty nice resolution photo for a picture-phone image.

On topic though, if it all works as it is now, I wouldn't worry about it. I doubt that this rubber really affects the usability of the wifi. If I'm wrong, please enlighten me.

alright, thanks for the quick responses guys. but is there anything i can do about the appearance of it? if i tear it off, it'll leave this crater looking thing, and im wondering if i should stick the flap of it in with some kind of adhesive.. any thoughts? its a little thing, i know, its just such a beautiful machine and it sticks out like a sore thumb.

Unfortunately I don't think I have any advice to offer you, except that I wouldn't jump to apply any adhesive materials to it out of desperateness as I've made things a bit worse out of the same impulses in the past. Hopefully someone here has some sort of remedy to make it less noticeable.

if you're really concerned about the appearance, i suggest taking it to Apple as they undoubtedly have a replacement "rubber thing" for you. i imagine it'll cost you, though. and they probably don't have those in the store, so if they're even able or willing to do it, your notebook might have to be sent away.
