Further to @annk 's recent reply on one of the recent threads, may I ask where MR stands on posts from users that state publicly that a thread should be closed?

There are several variations on this, not all I think are malicious; to wit: if a thread is a duplicate of a previously existing thread, or if MR have a news thread that duicates, then I can see such redirections as valid.

But if a user just decides to say "this has been asked and answered" without providing any useful context (or perhaps understanding of a subtle nuance difference) is that a post that should be reported for the mods to look at and comment on (be it one way or another)?

People can request a thread be closed but that doesn't mean it will. The moderation team generally will work to keep a thread open. There are times when that's not possible but being a discussion board we prefer to have discussions

Let me chime in for a second.

As determined by this thread, I don't think that's the case.
