Not even a sliver of evidence.
I suspect the publication got hold of the wrong end of the stick when they were told a lot of people would be waiting until 2013 for their iMacs, I suspect BTO 27's were always going to be arriving in the new year.

That sounds right as I am planning for a major purchase like that after I pay the holiday bills.

They're just saying it, because if they're right, they'll get some praise and people might go to their site.

I'm sure they're already getting tons of page hits from around the world because of this. It doesn't surprise me when MacBidouille and similar sites post rumors like this - it's easy to say whatever you want and cite "unnamed sources." But what struck me was how other news/rumor sites (AppleInsider, UPI, CNET, Ars Technica) picked up on it, seemingly without question. As best as I can tell, it's all based on MacBidouille.

Even the piece on MacRumors' front page, which has 478 comments currently, doesn't mention MacBidouille's track record or say that there is no corroborating evidence.

I'll reiterate that I don't know if the iMac is really delayed until next year - it might be, it might not be. But I'm not going to put much stock in one rumor that went viral until I have more to go on, whether it's something from Apple or a report from an analyst or other source.

That video was incredibly un-funny. I'm amazed a bunch of people actually took the time to make something so mediocre.

nope that pic is from the last event

Ok, so they've made some (that photo isn't an old model I assume), so surely it's possible to manufacture them?! Surely there's not likely to be a problem then...?

Didn't you say yesterday that you were buying a windows machine instead? I'm surprised you're still here pouting.

... or they'll go on sale on November 28, 29, or 30.

Apple NEVER responds to rumors like this about unreleased products.

Maybe they should start ;)

It's gorgeous, but that picture does make me relieved I didn't hold out. The one feature of the new iMac I was really excited about was the not-so-reflective screen (my office is sunny). But I can see ceiling reflection even in that picture. (I love Apple products but why are they so in love with vampiric screens that can't handle the light of day? Drives me nuts with my iPad too, which is why I still own a Kindle.)

It's not Matte, it's just 75% less reflective. I still think it will make a big difference.

Pictures from the hands-on session immediately following the announcement on October 23, 2012:

Don't do it, hang in there!

When you have that absolutely breathtaking machine sitting on your desk, you'll think, thank god I didn't buy that other "old" machine.
:)

I hear you rainbows.
I have to take some action though, as my MBP is literally about to fail any day now. I may have to buy a used low-end 21" and use it for a few months and then upgrade (again, sigh) once the new 27's are out. Damn, that sounds like a lot of configuring.

They're not going to start reacting to the zombies on wall street. I'd stop caring about them if they did.

Honestly, sometimes a company going public is the worst thing that can happen to it.

What wall street zombies? That's us. Apple is accountable to anyone that owns a share in its company. They no longer have the privilege of silence if it comes at the expense of their stock prices. Shareholders may have faith in Apple, but as you can see, that faith is easily shaken by, possibly, baseless rumors.

Personally, I have faith the company will bounce back and I'm not convinced there's any truth to these rumors. I just want what I want and I want it now and Apple giving a firm release date would make me less refresh crazy. So I have entirely selfish reasons for hoping that pressure from the shareholders will lead to a statement, no matter how unprecedented that may be.

And I'm telling you the minute Apple (or any company) starts responding to every baseless rumor someone invents is the minute you can forget about it as a viable company for the future.
