I have sources that have told me that Apple will be releasing an Updated iPod Soon.

Features include:
 • Wider Screen (Similar to that of the Microsoft Zune)
 • Higher Resolution Screen (I'm guessing 640x480)
 • Not Touch Screen (I don't know but one of my sources was sure that it didn't have a Touch Screen)
 • Aluminum enclosure
 • Little Bigger form factor (Due to extra features)
 • 5 Colors (I'm guessing Gray, Green, Blue, Black, Pink)
 • 802.11g Built In
 • New iPod OS (Using Theme Similar to that of the iPhone OS)
 • Larger Hard Drives (40Gb and 100Gb)
No Release date was specified but im guessing anytime from Now to end of Q3.

Please Note that i can not confirm my sources as being accurate on any of the above points.

Also Note that i have posted Correct Rumors in the past.

Wow, you always seem to want lots of comments don't you?

I'll post just one.

For the last time, the Zune screen is not "widescreen" it the exact same resolution and aspect ratio as the iPod screen - all they've done is rotate it 90° to put it in portrait mode.

Except I don't think a 60gb touchscreen iPod would be $300. I'd expect more like 30gb touchscreen at $300 and 80gb at $400. I agree the iPhone UI is impressive, but the iPod has done well by doing a relatively small number of things and doing it well.

Don't mis-understand me, I am not talking about a PDA-Pod. I am talking about taking the Media-access UI of the iPhone and applying it to a touch-screen iPod. Being able to quickly move between albums, artists, and songs is an actual strength of the Zune UI, and weakness of the iPod UI which the iPhone UI addresses. Coverflow is a nice improvement as well, since it introduces a level of spatial interaction with your media (which I like).

I would rather have such a device lack wireless, and be an iPod, with the nicer touch UI for interacting with my media. Scrolling is so 2001. ;)

(I don't even use the notes/contacts/calendar bits on my iPod, I have that functionality on my phone)

If there is a touch screen ipod then it will probably be at lease a few months after the iphone has shipped

That's one reason why this is a lame update. We've already seen the future, we don't want an iPod with marginal upgrades, well at least I don't. :D

Yeah exactly. Zune has 4x3 LCD just like iPod, just portrait instead of landscape. menziep's poor record also speak for itself (Toast 8 notwithstanding, which is really Roxio rumor not Apple).

Those iPod specs seem like reasonable.

However, you don't have a good track record with Apple rumors. So you predicted Toast. It went on sale right before MWSF ... that's a pretty big flag that they will release a new version, it doesn't take much to guess they will release a new version.

Anyways, Roxio is not Apple. I suspect Apple is much more secretive than Roxio.

In short, I don't believe you.

As much as I want a Touch Screen, BT and BT headphones would be the killer features for me with this unit. I am relly over using corded headphones.

Seems pretty right, other than the WiFi. Bluetooth makes more sense with the headphones and iSync and whatnot. Although Airtunes is WiFi so it could make more sense in that respect.

I'm just wishing they'd hurry-up and make the stupid announcement, whatever it will be! I'm waiting to buy my first iPod with video to go with my old iPod Mini, and I'd rather wait to see what's coming-out than order one today and have Apple introduce a new model tomorrow.

I'm not so much interested in what the changes will be, as the current design or any of the above proprosed designs sound good to me. I just don't want to finally buy and have it replaced by a new design right away.

Colors on the iPod is ridiculous though...too many product lines and part numbers.

I know seriously. Apple's made so much money off the new colored nanos, it's terrible. And now the shuffles!?? My God... I hate the vibrant awesome colors and won't be getting an iPod shuffle in orange next week. That's for sure.

The problem now is that good headphones aren't bluetooth...the iPod headphones are meant to be almost dispensable, and I don't think that the world is ready yet. WiFi would allow quick iPod wireless updating with the computer (possibly macs only...)

I agree with the people saying the Zune screen is an iPod screen turned to Portrait. It looks bigger, but when you compare it, it's the same size...at our school, 90% of MP3 player - owners have iPods, 9% have RCA, and .x% have Zunes...which is pretty much one kid. I personally wouldn't like the Zune whatsoever, no matter who tells me the screen is bigger. I would much rather have a 6G iPod than a Zune.

I agree. It's just that it will get better and with the world's most popular portable music player going bluetooth, more will be developed and quality will come.

I was talking about the iPods, not the iPod nanos, and the iPod Shuffles smart@$$.

Unrelated, but I've been meaning post a response to this for awhile now... I do it, and I like when others do it, because it often helps with technical questions, or just general discussion about products. If someone needs help or offers some advice, it's something/usually helpful to know what their using, and it's convenient to not have to count on them telling you in each individual post. Just my $.02 on it. :D

I take your $.02 and throw them into the fountain good sir, for I find that most people who do it are simply compensating for something or bragging. That being said, I'm a grouch, so deal with it.

And as for not showing signatures, some peoples' are actually quite interesting. I do not claim to be one of them, but they are interesting nonetheless.

There are much less subtle ways to brag than to put what you have in a 1-5 line signature on some internet forum. I'd agree with you if people starting using large sizes and bold for their sigs, but listing their specs just helps answer questions.

i need some serious help, should i buy a 30gig video or wait till the 6gen comes out. Does anyone have somefact to wether it will come out b4 august?

do u have a pic of this touchstrip?

you seem to be a bit too eager to tell us that you have good sources and that you were right last time and that you are "in the know"

i usually believe in "those who tell don't know and those who know don't tell".;)

I don't know about that. Some people just can't keep secrets.

I'm such a gossip, I tell everybody everything.
