What some thought was rumors like a larger screen on the iPhone 5 became true...

I am not saying the iPad Pro is total rumor, but Apple has done things lately that are not business as usual.

We're not talking about the iPad Pro in general (although they just had a Keynote announcing all of their new products... why would they leave something that earthshaking out?) , we're talking about one with Touch ID, before Christmas, with no advertising beforehand.

Like I said before... That would be idiotic.

And are you seriously suggesting that a larger iPhone screen is in the same league as a whole new tablet?

I also heard that the next iPad will be solid gold and, since Apple had such a big success with Mavericks, they'll be giving the iPad away free, too! :p

That's a rumor, too. Pass it around!

It's October. A larger iPad by Xmas is just silly talk.

Will a larger iPad happen? Maybe. That's not rumor, it's speculation.

A rumor that Apple will release a 12" iPad in two months time is just silly talk.

I never said there would be ANY of the above!

I am simply saying that rumors are just that. Some will be true while other will not.

What is the difference in speculation and rumor:p

The whole argument is stupid, please continue as I am out of it.

It's a fine line but an important one at Macrumors. A rumor is an unverified story usually attributed to an unknown source, such as

I've heard from a supposed reliable source that there is an iPad "Pro" with TouchID coming out before Xmas. Any thoughts? I would think there would be rumor galore by now....

Speculation, on the other hand, is more of ideas or guesses.

Silly talk is expecting Apple to release a new product in two months when they just released several. :D

There is a lot of speculation about a larger iPad. I have not seen or read "rumors" about one, as attributed to even remotely reliable sources.

There's a lot of rumors about an iWatch coming next year.

So, in responding to the OPs call for "thoughts" on his "rumor", I say my "thought" is that it is silly talk. :D

Haha not the same at all...comparing the potential for apple to place it's #1 selling phone on the #1 cellular network is nothing close to saying apple will never launch a brand new redesigned iPad pro within a month or 2 after the launch of another brand new redesigned iPad Air...

He said it would never happen. I completely agree it wouldn't happen before Xmas. But NEVER?? I dunno....anything is possible.

Hey, OP...Why haven't you posted this supposed reliable source yet ? Can't, can you :p :(

I also heard the mayan calendar is making a comeback. Someone just delete this thread.

When they named iPad iPad air, they open the door for iPad pro. Whatever that will be is coming next year and I'll buy my next iPad after checking that out first.

My money is on this coming March.

They crippled the Air with 1 GB of Ram and held out on Touch Id for a reason...

Your money is safe, late March looks right, one reason is, no way they release all 3 new iPads next fall and a 13" pro ipad is not really a Christmas item anyway.

Plus what else is coming in spring, it's the only thing I can think of for spring.

I got my iPhone 5S a month ago and I'm really happy with it! I always ended up disabling passcodes on my phone because I kept telling people my codes, in situations where I had no choice (example: telling a friend to call someone from my phone while driving).
I really wanted to protect my phone, not because I have some super secret information, but rather to avoid people sneaking into my texts or pics without asking when I leave my phone unattended. It's also great in case my phone gets stolen.

And then the iPad Air came out and I felt pissed that they didn't add Touch ID, but the things is, the iPad is a very personal device that tends to stay at home and is treated more like a laptop, and yes, Touch ID would've been nice, but it's not such a must-have for a tablet. I just ordered a 128GB LTE Air and I'm excited to see how the iPad has evolved, my last iPad was a first gen. one and I got tired of it pretty quickly...
