Update here on 2nd Apple Store in Cologne, Germany.

Even though there's still no official confirmation, I think the picture says it all:

Nope.

Just Manhattan and Brooklyn were once independent cities. The other boroughs were created. That's the major reason Queens have a lot of neighborhoods that feel distinctly different because at one point they were villages (until the consolidation). The City of Brooklyn was actually the last borough to join the rest by the way - fun fact. So yeah, Manhattan is just a part of NYC just like BK and the rest. All 5 put together makes the city.

There was never a city called "Manhattan". Manhattan has always been just the name of an island (and, I believe, the original tribe that lived there). New York (the city) once only comprised a small part of the island, with various other settlements (Greenwich Village, Harlem, etc.) elsewhere on the island. New York's boundaries kept moving north, gradually absorbing the rest of Manhattan island, and then a portion of Westchester County (which became The Bronx). Then, in 1898, the existing New York City merged with the counties of Queens, Richmond, and Kings. Kings County at the time contained a rather large city, Brooklyn.

That's for contributing though I'm well aware of this fact. My original post was just informing the poster that only Brooklyn and Manhattan were once independent cities. I never said the name of the cities (which were Brooklyn and the City of New York), I was just talking about what most would be able to identify in present terms. My point was Queens, Staten Island and much of the Bronx were never "cities" where as the City of Brooklyn and the City of New York (Manhattan today) once were. . .

They also said something along the line of Manhattan being a city which is false. It's apart of a city but it's just 1/5 of it.
