Alongside the announcement of the iPhone SE back on April 15, regulatory documents for what appeared to be new Powerbeats Pro models were also uploaded to the Federal Communications Commission's website, reflecting new Apple model numbers of A2453 and A2454 for the left and right earpieces.

The regulatory documents filed for the new Powerbeats Pro models don't appear to have revealed significant changes to the wire-free earbuds, but speculation about what they might be has grown as the updated models have gained regulatory certification in other countries in recent weeks, including in Malaysia and South Korea.

Much of the speculation has suggested that these new models represent a second-generation "Powerbeats Pro 2" that is set for imminent release, but we believe it's more likely a minor internal tweak to the existing models that will soon be or has already been quietly released without any announcement or changes to public-facing specs.

Apple maintains lists of regulatory Declarations of Conformity for the European Union for all of its current products on its website, and the current listing for Powerbeats Pro on Apple's Beats page mentions both sets of model numbers (A2047/A2048 and A2453/A2454) as of April 15, suggesting that Apple considers these sets of model numbers to both be current-generation products.

With nearly a month gone by since the first regulatory filings for the new model numbers and Apple openly acknowledging them on its website, the most probable explanation is that these minor revisions of the Powerbeats Pro have already begun rolling out.

If you've recently purchased Powerbeats Pro, you can check the fine print on the inside of each earpiece and let us know if you're seeing the new A2453/A2454 model numbers.

I honestly think the Beats Studio 3's - being so close to the Solo Beats 3's or now Pro's in features, may now be dead. That along with rumours of Apple going into over-the-ear pro headset market this year.

The only minimal tweak the Powerbeats Pro should get is: a SMALLER charging/carrying case! Put them inside a case ... parrellel yet mirrored to one another (like this L:T you get what I mean) along with similar spare charges.

they had 2 versions of the Powerbeats 3 ones without the 3(the first and older ones) and with the 3 on the buds but they were the same inside if you don’t believe me search for Powerbeats 3 review on YouTube and the original 2016 reviews had no 3s and the reviews in like 2018 and beyond had 3s

Any idea what the changes are between the two models? I've had so many issues with my PBP's. The latest was the right one staying connected, in spite of being cleaned and properly berthed, and then not charging normally. I have them in the case, 'charging', if they feel so motivated. *sigh*

Maybe, but over ear headphones are definitely more popular than on ear headphones like the Pro. I'm sure my other half would be happy with an Apple version. Either way Apple is taking a long time.

My wife has the same connection issue with hers. She only uses them on the Peloton but it’s guaranteed every other time to have connection issues. Charging seems fine. They are sharp looking in white but not being reliable is a pain for the price.

Yup, same here. One will work and the other won't, and the problem doesn't resolve unless I re-pair in the case. They'll randomly de-sync from each other, creating an echo-sounding effect. Sometimes they just won't connect to my phone at all unless I turn Bluetooth on and off a couple of times. I have to be very careful about how I place the left earbud in the case or it won't charge (I've never had trouble with the right one). Apple gave me a replacement pair with the same problems. Firmware updates have helped some, but I still have trouble at times.

I've never had issues with them connecting mt my Peloton. Well, except when they were DEAD! I found that they were so good at connected to the Peloton, that they often didn't disconnect! And the waking up dead thing is really a fantastic 'feature' of the $250 Wonders of Apple Technology.

I was thinking of getting the UnderArmour on ear headphones. I'll give them a second look. Peloton sold a pair that were a lot like those, but dropped them from what I've seen. Ride on!!!

Mine have never had an update, they are current, and that just sucks. When I told the case worker at Apple corporate that they should ahve made the pins longer int he case, she acted shocked. I don't know why. The pins should have been made longer, and the case should have been made so the earbuds don't have a 'set insert position', and just sit in there and make contact. There does seem to be a way to insert them in the case incorrectly, which is stunning. I'd wager if the damn pins were longer, the things would charge better, and if the case was made in a way that encouraged the earbuds to seat correctly to begin with, happy days... I'd like to see the engineer's face at Apple. 'Make the pins longer? WOW! Brilliant!'

Putting them in parallel wouldn't work, because one would have to be upside down. If they were both left, or both right, you could do that, but they would be even more unusable than they are now. Unless I'm not understanding you. Maybe they should have made them to stand up in the case, rather than lounging like they do. *shrug* I'm so disappointed with mine, they are right now hanging off my desk, tethered by the charging cable, symbolically 'hung drawn and quartered'.

So I emailed my Apple contact, and he called me back.

These new Powerbeats Pro's are NOT shipping yet. He took the standard Apple line of not commenting on pre-announced products.

I'm sure they know, and just won't say, but whatever. No, the new ones are not 'out there', at least officially. It will be interesting to see what the changes are. I'm betting longer pins, and possibly gold contacts on the earbuds themselves. *shrug*

Stay tuned...

Does anyone have FCC info on them?

Would love if the v2 version had the ability for the case to charge wirelessly like the airpods case does

Yeah, I keep wondering why they didn't make it possible with that 'high end product', and yet the lowly Air Pods do. Kinda odd for sure...

And mine are starting to get harder to charge the right one. I think it's due to the case not staying closed. If the loops are up enough, they seem to interact with the 'ramps' in the top of the case, and as soon as the case is open, even a smidge, they try to actively connect to the nearest device, exhausting the dang batteries. GRRR... But maybe, in the case where they did wirelessly ccharge, they would just have a thermal runaway and start a nice little fire on my desk. That would be fun... (I'm surprised how warm the Air Pods Pro's get when charging. I could see a rapidly charging and discharging PBP set melting down under that stress)
