I have a MacBook Pro, and I connect to a NAS (DNS-323) in my home to access all of my music and such. The problem comes when I take my MBP to work or somewhere else and I lose connection to the NAS.

When this happens I have to go and re-connect manually to the NAS before I can use iTunes (if I forget, then iTunes loses links to all my music).

What I'd like to be able to do is have a Cron Job automatically run when I wake the MBP or open the lid that simply reconnects me to the NAS. What I don't want is for Finder to open a window to the NAS (but I will live with it if it's the only way).

I do have the NAS setup in my Login Items, but that requires me to reboot the PC in order for it to run - not ideal.
