running apps that don't appear in dock

hey, is there any way to open an application and not have its icon in the dock either bouncing or even just sitting there. there are some apps that i don't want to see working, but i don't want to get rid of the dock completely

Hide from dock. I think its version 1.2 now. Search Version tracker.
