Can comment that D2:R does not run in Parallels on Windows 11 ARM on an M1-Pro. Not sure if this is due to incompatibility with the game and x86 emulation or the fact that Parallels is not updated for M1-Pro yet.

D2:R runs like trash on my high end windows gaming PC so I don't think you will get acceptable performance via any emulated environment. The codebase itself is 20 years old with an abstracted layer over top of it so it's already a very janky situation and Blizzard is notoriously not good at writing efficient and optimized code.

The game runs on a 30Hz tick. In a sense, it will never get smoother than that in some aspects.
That said, it runs quite smoothly graphically on my system, no issues. (AMD graphics)

The original isn't even a 3D-game to start with, so feeling like a modern game was never in the cards, for better or worse.

That's the vanilla version of Diablo 2 - that should run just fine. The new Remaster "Diablo 2: Resurrected" I can't get to run. Perhaps once Parallels updates to be optimized for M1P/M1M it may run. As things stand, the game throws up a "GPU Error" when launched in Win 11 under Parallels on M1P/M1M machines.

As far as Crossover, Battle.Net doesn't work so it's a no-go for any of the modern, non-classic, Blizzard games under that method.

The mandatory log-in to Battle.net is a royal PITA.
I really, really, dislike some of the trends in computer gaming, and these forced connections to corporate servers in order to play the game you bought is one of them.

Well at least I was able to get the original Diablo 2 to run under Windows 11 ARM/Parallels 17, so there is that......???
