    Hello,

I am a front end web developer considering buying a Macbook so I could run parallels or Bootcamp and test all sites I am building on browsers for Windows and OS X easily.

My question is, if I have Apache running on my OS X, can I connect to localhost in my browser on windows as well? Or do I need to upload the files somewhere and browse them as any other website?

How well do the Windows and OSX connect with each other?

    Thanks

Both operating systems will have an internal IP address on the your Mac. They show up as separate [virtual] ethernet interfaces, usually something like 10.37....... Also, if you're connected to a network, the virtual machine and OS X each pull their own IP from the router. Using either IP is fine, but localhost will not work for connecting one OS to the other.

thanks for your reply, that's great to know.

Just to be clear, is it possible to get the IP address of your Apache server on OSX and connect to that via your browser on Windows? Skipping the need to use localhost.

If so, do you know how to get the IP address of your Apache server? php info or something?

    Cheers
