soo, I bought a new vid card. just for the hell of it, mostly to see a few extra fps in Diablo3, but just wondering how well supported the rx580 is on OSX? I did search a bit, but all the talk about metal confuses the hell out of me.

currently running gtx680, which works perfect.

are drivers for rx580 included in the current flavour os osx? how far back does it go?, on el captain still here.

the 680's will go into my kids MP 2,1 boxes.

RX 580 is supported in macOS 10.12.6 and higher. Drivers in the system included.

GTX 680 needs OS X 10.8.3 or later.

Just get the Sapphire PULSE RX580 for 2 days. Works flawlessly so far in the latest 10.13.5.

And I just finished the "fine tune" as well, keep the card at native 1366/2000MHz but downvolt the core voltage to 1000mV (stock voltage is 1150mV). So, 13% lower, same clock speed, run cooler, less fan noise (when under full stress), and never get into thermal throttling.

For this particular card, it's really highly recommend to use the latest driver (which means latest OS). Because there is a large difference in drive quality / maturity.

Have 580 and it’s affordable and great for its price.
