what are the extra punches that you get with it over the 2.4GHz C2D?
Demanding CPU-intensive operations will finish 10-20% sooner than with the 2.4ghz model.
This would include things like compositing/rendering video and animation to disk, running complex Photoshop actions on very large files, compiling code, etc...
IMO< the money would be more wisely spent on a Mac Pro (much faster I/O and FSB), if performance in these types of applications is a high priority.
(faster I/O is where the REAL performance improvements occur in advanced media authoring applications; not higher CPU clock frequency)
