So I’ve been an iPhone user now since the 3GS. Here in Greece, the phones are more expensive, so what I would generally do is sell my current iPhone before the warranty is up, and get the newer version. The latest transaction was me selling my 7 Plus for 700€, then getting the X at an Apple store in NY. Doing it this way saved me about 500€, considering the price of the phones here.

So I’m thinking of upgrading now, and I have two options now, well three if I just keep my phone.

1. Upgrade to an XS Max 256 for 400€.
2. Upgrade to a Samsung S10+ for 300€.
3. Like I said before, just stay with the X for now.

My phone still has nine months left with Applecare, but I’ve had it since Dec 2017, and it’s batteey is at 85%. If I don’t take advantage of the these deals now, an upgrade would cost me more when the new iPhones are revealed, and my phone would be worth even less. I’m not too worried for what the differences the new iPhone would have over the XS Max, cause I think the bump in specs from the X to XS Max would suffice. Plus, I had a 7 Plus before the X, so I’d like to go back to a larger phone.

The Samsung does intrigue me. The screen is stunning, and the phone itself looks good, but it’s Android, and I’m used to the Apple ecosystem. What do you guys think?

If the battery % is bothering you, jump on the XS Max. Otherwise wait till September and cop the new shinies! That's what I'd do.

I would jump to the XS Max for 400 difference, and then continue to do that every year.... 400-500 for a device you get so much use out of per year is a really good deal.... If you wait and sit on your X it will be worth less and it will cost you more to swap.

Thoughts? Expensive..

You mentioned the word ‘expensive’, which leads me to believe you may not be able to afford it? If you can’t, then obviously there’s other options. And if you finance the phone, then you have to break down the monthly payments to see if that something that suitable. But in terms of what the phone has the offer versus the value, I think that’s your decision to decide what works best.

There are no finance options available here in Greece, unless you are using a credit card. I just dont see the value of spending 1300€ for a phone right now, when I can just get the XS Max for 400€. Technically, it cost me that much if you consider how much I spent for my X originally. Its not about affording it or not. I can buy an XS Max outright if I want to right now, I just think the options in front of me are good, and I dont necessarily have to jump at the 11 when it comes out in September. And like @bigjnyc said, the X would be worth much less if I wait for the 11 to come out.

If you like bigger displays I don’t think you will be disappointed. In addition, the camera improvements and the speaker improvements are worth the upgrade.

I upgraded from the X to Xs max.

My reply wasn’t intended towards you, which you answered a question that you wouldn’t know the answer to based on it was meant for ‘Superlamb’ (Which they are from the U.K.), as they implied the word ‘expensive’ in the above post, which is what led my response to questioning rather they could afford the XS or not if someone is questioning a phones price tag regardless of the features.

I upgraded from the X to Xs max.

I like a bigger phone overall. Even though the X's screen is larger than my previous 7 Plus, the X seems small in my big hands. And its not the easiest to type on.

I just upgraded the other day and I don’t have any regrets. I mean, we could just sit around waiting for the newest shiny item, but I’ll be waiting all the time. So I just did it. Going to sell the X now to get a bit more money for it rather than waiting to sell.

As a fellow X owner I'd and am waiting out at least 2 years of ownership. I still have 6 months left and then I'll consider upgrading to the next iPhone. I also could easily spend the cash to upgrade now but I like to shoot for 2 years of use out of each phone before moving on to the next.

Galaxy S10 Series is more good than Apple iPhones 2018

Respectfully, This is a terrible argument backed by nothing of substance. [Which of course you’re entitled to your opinion]. It’s not that iPhones aren’t ‘good phones’, there’s just no breakdown of comparisons when you’re looking at totally two separate devices that have different operating platforms and hardware, I mean, that’s like me saying the ‘latest Fitbit watch is better than the Apple Watch 2018 model’, they’re really not even appropriate comparisons, because they’re totally two different devices. Am I right? (Rhetorical) :D

Comments like the one you quoted are all over the web and social, many people feel iPhone gets unjustified attention and hype, best to just ignore such

Unless the guy was being sarcastic, in which case we both took the bait.

Go for it. No point in waiting since the new iPhones will be a very minimal update if rumours are true (and they generally are).

I ended up getting a XS Max in white, for a very reasonable price. So happy I went to it from my X. I enjoy the larger screen size. That is it for now. Wont upgrade until next year now, regardless of what comes out in the Fall. I have other things that my money needs to go towards.
