Hello! MacForums lurker here, newly registered. I installed XP on my MacBook to continue to enjoy my netflix watch instantly subscription. I purchased a dvi-s-video doodad that works beautifully with my leopard side. alas, this is not the case for xp. it doesn't recognize the output. I tried to install a new video driver, boot xp with the cord already in place to no avail. any suggestions for how to get my macbook xp netflix up on the tv would be mucho appreciated! (I posted this in the macbook forum, but then realized this was the appropriate venue! sorry!! should i delete my other post?)

    Hi and welcome! :)

This is a Macbook, and not a MB Pro, right?

There seem to be some reports of problems with using s-vid out that apply only to the Macbook...

Also mentioned in the Apple Store user comments for the adapter:

I don't own a macbook (I just stopped by your thread for moderating purposes :p ) but... what kind of TV do you have? No chance of using VGA, DVI, or HDMI?

Oh, okay... if it's not an HDTV, it probably doesn't have any of those other kinds of inputs.

Hmmm... I dunno what to tell you. If you ran Windows inside OS X with a virtualization tool like Parallels, VMWare, GuestPC, etc, etc, instead of booting it via Bootcamp, would it be able to play your videos? And if so, is that an option?

Are any of those Leopard/XP-together-in-harmony programs free or available as a trial? I was thinking about parallels, especially for solving this problem, but haven't installed it yet. Only tried boot camp thus far.
I also know precious little about the HDTVs. What are those suckers going for these days? Are they a good investment? My tv is so bad, it hardly seems worth buying much to make it work. There's random blobs of color on the screen that make the picture discolored in certain places.

I've got the same issues, I have a nice non-HDTV with the mini-dvi dongle using the s-video which works in OS X and not XP. It does work using VMware and I can watch netflix movies (which is also the main reason I wanted it) via XP running in virtualization, too bad my trial ran out.

I would LOVE for somebody to figure this out since I have other needs for XP to run via bootcamp with the tv-out.
