I've had my Series 0 for just over 2 years now, worn it every single day and never really had an issue with battery life. Since WatchOS 4, I switched to the Siri watch face from the modular one and with a recent increase in fitness tracking, I'm seeing the 10% battery warning coming up increasingly in the evenings.

I'd love to upgrade to a S3 but I can't justify the price right now when the S0 handles everything I need, albeit slowly sometimes.

Was wondering if anyone with a S0 had any experience with battery replacement (through official channels)? I'm thinking it might give me enough of a boost to get me to late next year when I should be able to pick up a Series 4 or whatever is available, although in the UK it's £84, certainly not cheap unless I can convince them to do it under Consumer Laws. I'm assuming I'd get a random refurb replacement unit if I sent my watch off for battery service rather than getting the same watch back?

I have an 2-year old AW0, and it's never really had enough battery life, especially when using the Exercise app for extended periods. Lie you describe, it is slow, and seems to hit the Low Power warning more frequently. But recently I turned down the display, which was set to full bright. Now I seem to get more time before the Low Power warnings.

Waste of money. Buy a used S1 or S2 to get you by.
Hadn't thought of that. January definitely would be the best time to pick up a used S1 or S2 at a decent price. I'll have to keep my eye on eBay.

Good catch, mine was on full brightness too. Minimum brightness isn't even too dim, the ambient light sensor seems to do a good job of adjusting to the light levels. I'll see what impact that has on the battery.

I would also keep watch on Apple's website for certified refurbished Apple Watches, they do surface once in a while and when they do, they come with a one-year warranty from Apple.

I would check out Craig's list. Do a search and you will find them at all different prices. My neighbor just bought an S2 at a excellent price and he is as happy as it gets. Some are still sealed in the box, new.

For reference, I just sold a 42mm Series 1 in excellent condition for £160.

The performance difference between series 0 and 1 is pretty big so it’s say is worth looking at a used model.

I sold via Facebook marketplace - as sellers don’t pay fees, it means there’s more room for negotiation on price.

One watch out on any advert, series 0 are always mislabelled as series 1. The back of the watch says “series 1” on genuine series 1 models, but often you can sell from the packaging or other contents as Series 1 didn’t ship with a power adapter - it just included the charging cable and so the box is much flatter.

How’s the battery life on an S2?

In comparison to my first generation Apple Watch, I can easily achieve an additional two hours compared to my first generation Apple Watch. The series to Apple Watch also has a somewhat thicker battery to help offset the GPS.

Mmm,I dunno. There’s chatter that the Series 4 may be the first form factor change for the watch. I’d say if he can live without the cellular (which I couldn’t) to stick with his S0 until the S4 comes out.

But the OP stated they couldn't justify the price point for the Series 3, and there is no certainty of a Series 4. So I agree with Julien in the purchase of a Series One, being the OP wouldn't likely appreciate the latest model.
